Doesn’t this Website draw pick up hockey together? What a great idea! If you are new to an area, how do you find out what team you can hook up with? I get that question a lot. Where can I play? It can be asked by guys and gals in any age group at any time in the season. This is a true case of who you know that counts. You play regularly; but your group can’t handle a 25 year old. I often tell them, “go to the rink, talk to the rink attendant and look at the schedule. Then, check out the time slot that suits you, check the age group, skill level, the whole rink scene and then approach the leader or players with the question “Who runs this group?” Mary teams are short players. and welcome you gladly “Get your gear; come on.” is a typical response. Never go to the rink without your gear. You can play pretty well any given day. Getting on an organized team like an over 35 old timers team takes more time. They usually are full and have a spares list. But, these guys may know a team looking for players. You have to ask. I have always said, “If my wife and I become snowbirds, then my first job in Florida is to find a rink! Obviously I will check Hockey finder! Let’s get our schedules out and populate the Hockey finder database.
